NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
In the first list of 125 candidates, 50 candidates are women, including Asha Singh, mother of the Unnao rape victim. From Shahjahanpur, Priyanka said.
“Out of the total 125 candidates, 40% are women & 40% are the youth. With this historic initiative, we hope to bring in a new kind of politics in the sate,” she added.

Taking to Twitter, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the mother of Unnao rape victim will be face of justice in Uttar Pradesh.

The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in seven phases starting on February 10.
The results will be out on March 10.
